Just Another Preachy Vegan

WELL, HERE GOES...
OK, so starting this blog took a little bit of courage and a slow but considerable change in my perspective. When I first took the plunge into veganism less than two years ago I adamantly proclaimed I would never become 'preachy' about my actions or try to 'force' my
choices and beliefs onto other people. When I was still an active meat eater I was lucky enough to connect with a group of super happy, intelligent, healthy, fit and strong individuals who all had this one thing in common and this intrigued me and originally inspired me to take a comprehensive look at my own actions and habits and how they were effecting me. But at the end of the day this was my own individual ethical and dietary decision and that was that.
Having made the decision to change my way of life I fully expected to recieve some level of mockery or scepticism towards my choice and the last thing I wanted to do was alienate people by voluntarily opening up discussion on the subject. However, in actually I recieved nothing but genuine interest, genuine enquiry, genuine concern and bar the healthy banter between friends (I give as good as I recieve) nothing that resembled any real opposition or hostility. This has encouraged me to be more open with people I love and respect and regardless of your ethical, religious, educated or cultural beliefs this is something that has had such a profound effect on both my mental and physical health I feel no shame in wanting to share this knowledge and experience with my family, friends or anybody this blog might reach.
The reason I'm writing about this now is that from a purely personal level Im not currently satisfied that as an individual I'm doing enough for what I believe to be an incredibly serious cause. Just as those people inspired me and supported me on my journey into health and happiness I hope to do the same for others. I don't intend this blog necessarily to be a tool to convert people to my way of thinking or to 'guilt' people into making these huge changes in their life. What I would like to do is simply open up discussion and to help educate anyone (including myself) with any level of interest or scepticism whos willing to listen. Knowledge is power.
I do want this to be a place for open discussion so please feel free to leave a comment or drop into the forum and anonymously (or not) leave feedback, questions, open up discussion, give advice etc. Thank you
